All chocolate (Bake it Fair with The FairTrade Foundation)

See That Badge over on the Right of the Screen, it says Foodies100 and 3 numbers? well that’s where I am on the list of Bloggers I love my Number and Foodies100 have been holding a competition in-conjunction with The Fairtrade Foundation. To come up with a recipe using Fairtrade Products

I had planned to make my daughters Birthday already (in my head), her birthday was last week but we found out that family were coming to Visit (some very special big and little people) and decided to hold off and celebrate together, I was also invited this week to Attend my First ever CCC, which was lovely to meet others and eat cake :)

So this week I made lots of Chocolate cake

Ingredients

  • 8ozs butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
  • 8ozs caster sugar (Fair Trade)
  • 4 large free-range eggs
  • 6ozs self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2ozs cocoa powder (FairTrade Bourneville)
  • A little milk

For the chocolate Ganache

  • 7oz plain chocolate (Fairtrade, Green and Blacks)
  • 7fl oz double cream

The Finished cake (described By Duff Goldman as a “Very Cool Cake”

;

My 2nd cake for this week is A Millionaire Shortbread Cake, most of Images are for the cupcakes (but For the CCC it had to be a large cake)

Using the above recipe I made a slight change and added caramel to the batter.

I also made the shortbread into tiny mouthsize pieces (to decorate) and also a couple of large ones to crumble into the base of the batter before cooking.

Once Cooked and cooled I decorated with Chocolate Ganache, Caramel buttercream, melted Chocolate and Drizzle of caramel, added caramel to the centre of the cake also with some chocolate Ganache. I again was told it was moist and delicious.
